Another Trip!

You'd think that with finals being well, final and finished that I would have more time to post. I have been proven wrong as the past couple of weeks have been an utter whirlwind. It is good though because I suppose I need to stay busy, I'm just one of those types of people that always has to have something to do. Anyway, I'll be posting the pics when I get home from work today showing some of the things that have been going on in my neck of the woods.
There have been multiple Christmas parties. Unfortunately, I had to work for my work Christmas party. It was my fault because I volunteered. I felt like I've been to enough Christmas party experiences here at the Hilton, so it was good for other people to go instead. We did have a secret santa party that I was able to attend. It was a good time. There was good food (pizza!) and good company. I let Tamara use my camera to document the experience and she went wild with the camera :) It was good though. I never think to take enough pictures. And through her eyes I was able to obtain a minute-by-minute documentation of our party. It was a good time.

This year I decided to go traditional with Christmas for the most part. I tied on my apron strings (metaphorically of course... I can't imagine having an apron!) and baked, baked, baked! I haven't baked goodie trays for Christmas since I was like seven years old I think. It was very hard work, but a lot of fun too. Sugar cookies and fudge were the only items on the menu (I was going to do more, but ran out of time. They turned out well enough. I must brag that my fudge was simply divine, but gave me a tummy ache because I ate too much! Brent broke into one of the gift platters much to my dismay, but it was kinda funny too :) I really enjoyed doing this part of Christmas again. I don't think I'll do it again next year though, it was hard to keep it all in one day, but we'll see...
Brent and I decided (well, actually I decided and Brent bent to my will) to stand in line at 4am for about 6 hours to assure that we received tickets to Wicked. It is coming to Capital Theatre here in April. Brent and were able to get some tickets and I'm pretty excited to go. It was so cold, and it started snowing on us in line. Brent and I both think we got sick from it. It was, or will be totally worth it I hope.
Brent and I freezing our booties off waiting for Wicked ticket office to open
Our friend James who went out two hours earlier than us to hold our spots in exchange for hot cocoa

Next up is our trip to see his family in Seattle. We leave tomorrow and are so excited! The vacation is very needed. I decided that I wanted to go to a Pacific Ocean beach while we are there, so we will be visiting one of the beaches other than the ones on the Sound. I also found out that Washington houses a rain forest. Interesting FAQ, but I want to see that as well. I will be posting pics of Seattle and surrounding areas when I get up there! I hope there will be no flight delays due to this wretched weather.

Fire in the Sky!

Last night I received a call from my mom at 1am freaking out because she thought that the 10 firetrucks lined up on my street were for me. How I didn't hear them I know not - I seemed to sleep right through them. Anyway, when I walked on to my porch to see what it might be, the sky was alight with fire! Just up the street from me an apartment complex was ablaze. I walked around the corner to see if there was any way that I could help. 80 people were evacuated. I have never seen anything like it. There were two white ladders with the fireman hoses spraying in arcs of water over the complex and a flood of water was running down the street. The fire consumed half of the south side of the building. No one knows yet what the cause is (I've heard cigarettes, BBQ, and small campfire on the balcony). Anyway, it was exciting and scary, and there are now people that need places to stay, so if anyone has an extra room, please get involved.
